Wisteria bounced her leg anxiously as she watched Anemone study Rena. Rena still wouldn’t wake up, no matter how much Wisteria called her name or poked or prodded her. To say she was worried was an understatement. “Well… Her vitals are normal. All of her tests came back negative. Everything looks fine. I have no idea what could be wrong with her,” Anemone said solemnly. “You’re kidding…” Wisteria said. “Obviously something is wrong if she won’t wake up!” “I agree with you, but medically there’s nothing we can do. She will still eat and drink if you put food and drink to her mouth. Someone will have to take care of her until we find a solution.” “I’ll do it, of course,” Wisteria said, standing up resolutely. “We have nurses who could do this instead. You wish to uproot your life to do this?” “If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have a life right now! Of course I’m going to help her!” Wisteria said. The setting sun dyed the sky in shades of orange and pink. The normally bustling town was winding down as twilight neared. Everyone had started to either head back to their homes or relax at the nearest restaurant. Aqua happened to be in the latter category. She strolled up to the place where Markus told her to meet. She glanced at the sign and the menu posted outside. Freshwater Basin, read the sign. The cheapest thing on the menu was 15$, and it was an appetizer. She furrowed her brows. Markus has insisted on treating her, so he could afford a place like this? Should she have dressed up? Nah, her beautiful newly evolved form was enough for her to fit in. Oh, the look on Markus’ face when he’d come here and see that she evolved before he did! She hoped to rub it in his face as much as possible. “Aqua!” she heard. Taiyo woke groggily from deep sleep. For a moment she forgot where she was. The cabin of a boat was nothing like the dirty streets she usually slept on. Then the wondrous memories of last night washed over her. She looked across the cabin at the second bed, but it seemed Sweeney had already started his day. Taiyo sat up and stretched as she exited the cabin and went out onto the deck. “Good morning,” Sweeney said, greeting the Scrafty hybrid. He looked to be taking notes, possibly observations from the night before. “Morning…” she said, squinting in the bright morning light. She looked around, expecting to see something different than the vast ocean stretching out all around them, but there was nothing but blue sky and teal water. “Want some breakfast?” he asked, pointing to a basket full of berries.
